War of the Worlds

I saw this last night, all I can say is holy crap!

Spielberg does it again, capturing the grand scale of an alien invasion. The tripods are huge, their weapons devastating, and what they do with their captives truly terrifying.

But this is not a simple effects film, it's a far cry from Armageddon. Spielberg captures the human side as he always does. These seem like real people, they're flawed and regular, which is a far cry from the usual perfect guy role Tom Cruise fills.

See this film, it's a great thrill. If you don't see it in the theatres, it's definitely DVD-worthy.

This week's online edition of The Onion is worth checking out. It's a future edition from the year 2056, the articles are a riot.

Job Hunting

The job hunting is well under way. I've been logging on to the library computer every morning and applying for evening work, also getting the Burlington County Times and going through the classified each day.

I'm focusing on evening work so that when my class starts next month, I can go to school during the day and continue an evening/night job. This just seemed the best course of action.

This is the last hurtle in my journey, other than the class itself (which I'm not worried about). And this wouldn't be such a big deal if I'd gotten into the class that started this month - for that I can only blame myself. Believe me, I've been kicking myself all week over that!

Offline

You've probably all seen the email by now, but I may be offline for a week or more starting this Saturday (the 11th). I'll have to set up a new internet provider once I have a line (not sure it's been installed yet). So there won't be any updates until I'm back on the web.

Moving Week

Well, I've got all my Jersey lisence stuff squared away and am signed up for the CDL class (the June class filled up weeks early, so I'm in for July unless one of the June students cancels).

So this week is moving week. Today I'm scheduling the U-Haul and getting the storage space, the rest of this week there will be lots of packing.

The actual move date is the 11th, with the 12th as a backup.
