I Got A Job!
I landed a job with Arrow trucking on the 21st.
Since that's a regional position, my plan is to keep looking and applying until then.
I'll miss Thanksgiving, but that's not such a big deal...I've missed holidays before.

...and the opportunities keep rolling in.
On Wednesday I got a call from Werner, another regional carrier. Their offer is better than Arrow's, more frequent home time and local training.
Thursday I went to a job fair, found a couple of local opportunities that look very promicing. So by middle of next week I expect to make my final decision.
Still workin' it. Had an interview with COSCO today, flubbed that. Tomorrow's another meeting with a company that hauls mulch and stuff. And I'm still working on PittOhio...so if neither of those work out, it's Werner.
Interviewed with Britton today, they're hiring for a tractor with a dump trailer to haul wook, which is then made into mulch. This sounds like a good gig and it pays well (as well as my old job), and they're hungry to bring me on. I should get a road test tomorrow, the hiring manager says I could start as early as Monday!
Britton's all set to bring me on, as soon as they could road test me (they were unable to schedule this for today).
Meanwhile, I just found out that a position for Home Depot delivery driver is open at J.B. Hunt. Randy and Don have already put in the good word for me...hell, Randy's the one who got Don the job in the first place. So I contacted them, if they want to bring me on board it'll probably be after the holiday.
UPDATE: Britton assures me that I'm all set to start, just as soon as they can get a truck out of the shop for me to road test & drive. Matter of fact, the manager added that I'd start immediately after my road test, which is nothing more than a trip around the block.
