I'm surprised that everyone is so bewildered by the "Sam's" behaviour. Seagulls are smart, adaptive, and annoying birds. Raven's do the same thing. They've become a particular nuisance to ice fishermen. I've seen video of a Raven watching a man ice fishing, and when the man sets his hooks and leaves, the raven swoops in, pulls out the line with the hooks , and makes off with the fish. They've also been know to figure out how to get into the storage areas of motorcycles.
It's an amusing story. :)
That's exactly why I posted it, it's funny.
